Every time I look at the business news I notice that there has been another merger or acquisition. It makes me wonder if one day all of the big businesses will be merged into one huge conglomeration. :smile: It seems all of the communications companies have merged into large conglomerates and control a lot of different types of media from television news to movies and DVDs.

I believe that the effect of such huge companies would be a price control type of mentality. For example Time Warner has such a lock on local cable television and cable internet in our area. The price of cable and internet is really set by them. Other companies that try to compete in that same area of course don’t have access to the cable infrastructure that Time Warner has but they offer products at similar pricing. :ohoh:

Mergers and acquisitions have really come back after years of companies and the internet growing on its own. Dennis C Carey did a study where he interviewed executives from several big corporations and asked them about the why and the success rate of the companies that have merged. :~) I have just glanced at it but I am thinking to read it to try to get a better understanding of where all this is leading to in the business world and its consequences. :ohoh:
