Dream of cruisin.

Sunday, Jun 29, 2008 @ 3:18 am

Once in a while I like to dream about vacations. Ok I like to dream about vacation a lot! I admit it. Some of my friends tell me the ultimate vacation to relax and be treated like a queen is to go on a cruise in the Caribbean. That sounds pretty good if you can find some cruise deals but I don’t know how they ever get their hubby to take off 2 weeks for a cruise. Mine has no vacation because he works for himself and it really is hard to get away for a long period.

Marcus,

My hubby’s Chicago Vaca!

One of my favorite vacations was to the Windy City, the City of the Big Shoulders, the Frozen Citadel on the Lake, you know it. Chicago! My son and I rode the train from Kansas City, MO. We left the showcase Union Station on a cool Saturday morning and rode the swaying, rumbling tracks through the back country of Middle America. We watched the sleepy towns of less than 300 inhabitants where everyone turns to see the steel horse roll through.

Once we reached Chicago we watched other trains passing us leaving the city filled with people making their way home from their jobs in the downtown area. We stayed at the Howard Johnson Inn and while it was old it was clean and the beds comfortable. Our itinerary had been planned on online travel guides Trusted Tours & Attractions which gave us the key to the city. Filled with ideas of things to do in Chicago, we chose the North Side Tour to start the next morning. It wound through downtown Chicago and we learned the great stories behind many of the historic building on the way. We got to see Wrigley Field and Richard Daley Plaza. It was so fun and enlightening. This one of the best online travel guides! We then ate at these little restaurants in the downtown area all day. One place for breakfast I can’t remember the name, grrr! It was so delicious, all the bread was baked there and I had an egg sandwich that made me want to never leave. Then we went to China Town for the very authentic cuisine, we Americans really don’t know Chinese food until you visit here.

Next time we go to California we will be sure to look for things to do in San Francisco. The tours site has a good newsletter to subscribe to as well. Here is the link http://www.trustedtours.com/newsletter.aspx

My hubby and I love to find new places to go and see.We always are making plans and talking about the places we want to go vacation and have fun touring. :mmm: One of the many places we want to see are the coasts of California and Oregon. We have both been to California and my hubby has been to Oregon. Right now we are planning what we are going to do with our business and maybe moving to a funner place then Missouri. Bleh, not much fun here!

We were looking at Oregon for some vacation time and found a site Oregon Coast Vacation Rentals. This site is so nice. You can see pictures of the rentals and they are mostly condos. So you can search for the type of property you want easily with the built in search engine. They also show the views of the ocean and area around the rental so you have a good idea of what to expect to see when you get there. I think Alaska is actually going to be our next trip but then Oregon will be the place we are looking for. I will come back to this site to find a great vacation rental and I will be sure to blog so everyone can enjoy the trip!
